Justice League’s Party Location This Saturday: 29th and Huron

The Justice League has been ramping up for another ginormous party this weekend, and they just announced last night that they’re taking it back to where it all began: the big old lot at 29th and Huron (map). This is where they threw all their parties last summer, and while it’s a great space, parking was a bitch if you didn’t get there early. Since the street food fan base has grown substantially, I suspect you’ll thank yourself if you make a point of riding your bike to this one.

Of course, the upside might be that the lack of parking might offer a little unintentional crowd control, and you could find lines for Pinche Tacos and Deluxe something short of two hours. Wishful thinking? Maybe.  Of course, if you ask me, if I’m going to stand in a line, I want it to be at a street food party where I can meet and mingle with a ton of new-to-me people who love street food as much as I do. So, bring on the lines, folks – just ply me with food and booze and I’ll be happy. And while you’ll hear some grousing in the lines, there is almost always a sense of community and civic pride and partying going on, so consider the wait a part of the ride, and let yourself have a ball.

Super Cold Beer, Wine, Sangria

So, speaking of booze, in addition to the great grub, music, games and general mayhem and fun, there will be beer on hand! This time, The JLSF is pairing up with Avery and from what I gather from a FB post, I think they’re going to have roving beer vendors to help take the sting out of those two hour waits. No more sending one of your pals to refresh your beer while you wait for your kabob! This time, the beer is coming to you. Plus, wine and sangria!  If there’s rosé or vinho verde on hand, I’ll be the happiest girl on earth Saturday night.

Super Treats

The super friends of the Justice League are rolling out some unique one-time-only treats for this party to tempt your palate, so wear your belt a little looser this weekend, so you can sample as many as possible from these tasty treats:

  • From Pinche Tacos: Shrimp Ceviche Xni Pec. Per Facebook:  “This is shrimp ceviche made in the Yucatan tradition, with pico de gallo and Habanero chiles.”
  • The Steamin’ Demon will be rolling out  Crispy Chile Tacos with black beans, queso fresco and marinated onions and peppers.
  • Stick it to Me: Moroccan Turkey Kabob with a Harissa Aioli.
  • Biker Jim’s Gourmet Dogs: Vietnamese Banh Mi sausage with pickled cucumber slaw.
  • The Denver Cupcake Truck: Ice cold milk and chocolate chip cookies.

Bonus: In addition to the usual lineup, the JLSF will also be welcoming back original member, The Gastro Cart, who will be cooking with Troy Guard of TAG and Scott Parker of Table 6. That can’t be bad. And as a double bonus, Cream City Treats will be making an appearance, as well, offering a dessert alternative to cupcakes!  I don’t know if they’ll have them on board, but Cream City recently rolled out a new cream puff/vanilla custard sandwich that you really MUST try. More on that in another post!

So with all that food and wine and beer goodness, you’ll be doubly thankful if you ride your bike, people. Hope to see you there! I’ll be the one in a smily, wine infused food coma diving with gusto into one too many ice cream sandwiches.
