New Trucks! Tons of the things.

Paseo Denver
Paseo Denver is serving up some fine Mexican food from a fine-looking Airstream Trailer. Picture snagged from their Facebook page.

Seriously people. I can hardly keep up!  I’ve been getting emails almost daily with requests to add new trucks to our growing list. Some of the notes are about works in progress, like Chicago Louie’s and a Greek truck that should be rolling out any day.  Others, like the gorgeous Paseo Airstream trailer and the Sweet Revenge Cupcake truck are already on the road. Below is a quick rundown of what’s going on. Read ’em and eat.

Paseo Denver

Their menu looks divine if you’re a  Mexican food lover – and I am – and their trailer looks just as divine.  They’re always on the go, day and night! Per the latest Civic Center Park lunch schedule, you can find them at the park on Mondays, weather permitting. Their Twitter account doesn’t show frequent action (last post was Nov 12), but it looks like Facebook is a little more up to date.  I haven’t tried em yet, but hope to soon!

Sweet Revenge Cupcakes

Yes – another cupcake truck! These folks are often around downtown and also have been known to show up around Invesco near Bronco game times.  I am happy to report that these folks are filling void that I’ve often bemoaned: THEY HAVE MINI CUPCAKES! Sweet! Doubly sweet, in fact. I love me some cupcakes, but sometimes I just want less than a pound of cupcake.  As Vanessa, the proprietor of Sweet Revenge, wrote in an email:

Sometimes mini is better. The mini flavors will always coincide with our regular size cupcake flavors. We also carry a vegan cupcake!!

Did you catch that?! Vegan cupcakes! Find ’em via Facebook – again it looks like they’re not too active on twitter!

NZ Smokin’ Guns Barbecue

NZ Smokin' Guns Truck

With brisket, pulled pork, and smoked chicken sandwiches on the menu, these guys are offering great barbecue on wheels.  They’ve got the traditional accompaniment of coleslaw and fries, and serve up smoking wings, to boot! They’ve got very little activity on Twitter, and a little more on Facebook.

Sweet looking truck, to boot!

Chicago Louie’s

Chicago Louie's "before" picture. We can't wait to see the makeover!

Not yet on the road, Michel from Chicago Louie’s is getting his truck ready to roll! He emailed me some of his thoughts on the impending menu, and if you’re a fan of sausage, you need to follow this truck. Here’s a snippet from his email:

[there will be ] many varieties of American regional and International sausages such as the Chicago Maxwell sausage with onions and yellow mustard just like you will eat it on Maxwell street in Chicago to maybe German milk fed veal frankfurter with creamed sauerkraut and curry mustard an adaptation of the currywurst (a fast food dish of German origin) found in Berlin or maybe a homemade Southwestern chorizo slider with refried beans, Pico de Gallo and “M” Queso sauce a sophisticated version of chorizo tostadas found in many Texas areas.

Looks like they’re active on both Facebook and Twitter, so keep tabs on these guys however you like!

Street Eats 5280

Another member of the crew showing up for regular lunch dates at Civic Center Park, Street Eats is another sausage lover’s dream! From their website:

Our menu will sizzle with grilled specialties of exotic sausages made from buffalo, elk and wild boar, premium burgers and daily food specials. Street Eats will roam throughout the Denver Metro Area but our menu will circle the globe.

Their menu isn’t posted to their website, yet, but I’m hoping they’ve got some veggie options! Also active on both Facebook and Twitter, and they’ll be at Civic Center Park today along with some of our other favorite vendors, Steubens, MaxLunch, and Walt’s mobile Bistro! Go eat it!

Mikes2Kitchen

The Mikes2Kitchen Cart. Photo snagged from their website.

Specializing in po’boys, smoked sandwiches, and tacos, Mikes2 has got something for everyone – even a potato taco for the veg crowd! They’re at Civic Center Park on Mondays and Fridays, and can otherwise be found all over town, including frequent visits to the Tech Center.  You can keep up with these guys on Facebook or Twitter.

Phew!

I’m way excited to see the street food scene expanding so rapidly in Denver and can’t even imagine what’s going to happen next spring when the weather warms up and the farmer’s markets open up again.  I suspect things will heat up considerably and we’ll have more options than we can imagine.

As mentioned above, I know we can expect to see a Greek food truck here in the coming months, but what else would you guys like to see? There’s been some chatter on Facebook about sushi, noodle bowls, and more. What’s your number one request? Let us know in the comments!
