Sit Down Pop Up Pizza Restaurant: Why We Love Basic Kneads

They guys at Basic Kneads are not only among the best and most creative pizza slingers in town, but they’ve got a real knack for this whole street food thing. They’ve approached the mobility of their wood-fired oven with a sense of playfulness that makes them some of my favorites to follow.  This week, they’re doing something I haven’t seen in Denver before: A pop-up pizza restaurant. And the best part? It’s BYOB. So grab a bottle of your favorite wine or a 6 pack of your favorite beer and head over to the Eliot Street Collective at 25th and Eliot in the Highlands (map) on Friday AND Saturday this weekend for their awesome ‘za. They’re getting fancy by adding salads and starters to the menu, but staying down to earth with those awesome rustic crusts and a casual atmosphere. Got kids? Bring ’em. Most importantly, bring the wine!

You’re a gluten free vegan? They’ve got you (and your pizza) covered

The Basic Kneads oven, burning bright.

Per their Facebook post announcing the party, they’ll have Udi’s gluten free crust and and they’ll be packing vegan cheese. These guys always have creative and delicious vegetarian ‘zas, too.

Where else you can find ’em

The Basic Kneads oven can be found at Tiri’s Garden at 15th and California on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11a-2p, and at the Great Divide Tap Room on Monday and Wednesdays for happy hour. Follow them through Facebook and Twitter, or just follow the Denver Street Food Page on FB to keep up with all Denver’s awesome street food vendors.
